Banknotes just waiting to be spent
Banknotes in all denominations have been prepared by the Bank of Thailand (BOT) to support spending over the holidays and will be adequate to cover the period from the end of December to early January, Somboon Chitphentom, BOT assistant governor of banknote management group, said on Tuesday (December
“We always see a massive rise in the number of banknotes changing hands during the new year period,” he explained.
BOT expects commercial banks to disburse banknotes from BOT with a total value around Bt120 billion. “This is close to the total value of the last year” he added.
