‘Eat, Shop, Spend’ registrants can now travel with voucher
People who successfully registered for the ‘Eat, Shop, Spend’ scheme on the first allowed day, September 23rd, should have receive an SMS confirmation by 5pm yesterday (September 26), said Chankit Detwithak, the deputy minister of Finance today. They can now travel using their voucher.
In all, 807,321 registrants qualified and are able to use the Bt1,000 voucher today. More than 200,000 people were disqualified due to applying late with their OTP identification, incomplete registration information, or for duplicating their chosen destination district and their hometown. Those disqualified were still able to register today (September 27).
The Finance Ministry is now discussing how to handle the remaining quota due to disqualification problems. However, registration is open until November 15 or until the quota of 10 million registrants is met.
