Niphon chaired a 10am ceremony to handing over the deeds, including to three mosques, at the Narathiwat provincial hall.
The ceremony was held in parallel with a ceremony held by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha in Yala, where he handed over land deeds to local people at the Yala Government Complex.
The 450 Narathiwat recipients were residents of 14 tambon in the four districts of Rusoh, Bacho, Yi-ngor and Rangae. The deeded land plots were located next to the Budo and Sungai Padi mountains.
The deeds were given to people who had been living on their land for many years without possession of land-holding documents.
Niphon said the Interior Ministry will next year conduct additional surveys of 15,000 plots of land in nine districts of three southern border provinces, to consider issuing land deeds to local people so that they could have sustainable careers and income.
