Russian man drowns in a villa pool in Phuket

Officers from Cherng Talay Police Station said Thalang Hospital had informed them of the man’s death. 
The man was later identified as 31-year-old Denis Komarov.
Komarov’s friend, Liya Simonchyk, 41, told police that they had been living in the house with three other friends and the group had started drinking near the pool on Tuesday evening before wrapping up at about 2am.
The friends then found Komarov floating in the pool at about 8.40am on Wednesday and called for help. However, Komarov died on the way to the hospital. 
Police are investigating the case.
