Southern provinces from Surat Thani down are expected to be lashed by heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday as a low-pressure system from tropical storm Toraji moves over the area, the Meteorological Department said.

In its fourth warning over tropical storm Toraji issued at 5am Monday, the department said Toraji, now downgraded to a depression, was located about 35 kilometres northwest of Ho Chi Minh City at 4am Monday.
The department said the low-pressure system is expected to enter the Gulf of Thailand during Monday and Tuesday, resulting in heavy rains from Surat Thani province down to Songkhla.
