An unnamed beach manicurist on Koh Samui has returned Bt2,000 to a Swedish tourist whom she charged Bt3,500 for working on his fingers and toes.

A Thai posting as “Lisa May”, who’d spread the word about the overcharging on the Facebook page @ruampolkhonsamui (Assembly of Samui People), said manicurists working on Ban Lamai Beach in Tambon Maret had left the money with a restaurant owner to give to her so she could pass it on to the 55-year-old swindled Swede.
Lisa May on Sunday complained on the page that the manicurists had charged the father of her Swedish friend Bt3,500 for a 40-minute fingers-and-toes treatment.
Her post drew the attention of the Samui Tourism Promotion Association, which threatened to ask authorities to register the manicurists as businesspeople to prevent them taking advantage of tourists.
Lisa May quoted the restaurant owner as saying the manicurists asked her not to file a police complaint.
