Shirin Hossein, 29, was arrested at Suvarnabhumi International Airport when she arrived from Phuket on Tuesday. She had with her an onward flight ticket to the UK.
Police said that officers’ suspicions had been raised when Hossein used a UK passport in the name of Ms Charlotte L F to enter Thailand at Phuket on November 7.
After inquiries and communications with international agencies, it was confirmed that Hossein was using a stolen passport. She was therefore arrested as she landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday to transit before flying to the UK.
Investigators found that she had travelled from the Iranian capital, Tehran, and picked up the new passport somewhere in Europe. Police believe she paid about Bt100,000 for it.
Police have intensified their arrests of foreigners overstaying their visas and those who may be the security threats at the order of the government, fearing they could be involved in international or financial crimes.
