Three southern provinces warned of heavy rains

The Meteorological Department on Monday warned residents of three southern provinces to brace themselves for heavy downpours and possible flash floods lasting through Tuesday.

It said a strong monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand would trigger heavy rains in Ranong, Phang Nga and Phuket.
The department also predicted big waves of over two metres until Tuesday and advised small boats to stay ashore.
