14 Africans arrested in Bangkok’s sois Cowboy and Nana
Troops and police rounded up 14 Africans on Bangkok’s Soi Cowboy and Soi Nana early on Saturday and charged them with illegal entry into the Kingdom and drug trafficking.
Some 200 police and troops led by Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpal, commander of the Patrol and Special Operation Division (191) checked the two areas starting at 3am.
They took 60 people from African nations for urine tests. None tested positive for drug use. But 13 of them, including six men, failed to show their passports and were arrested on charges of unlawful entry into the Kingdom. They are one Senegalese, one Somalian, three Nigerians, one Ivory Coast citizen, five Ugandans, and two Tanzanians.
Another Nigerian, Okechuwu Obi, 35, was arrested for having 0.62 grams of crystal meth or “ice” with intent to sell.
All suspects were taken to the Lumpini police station for further legal actions.
