He said the culture, sports and tourism department of the BMA would cooperate with local communities, the private sector and other agencies to promote the five markets, which have been operating for some time.

The five markets are Talingchan market, Lad Mayom canal market, Wat Saphan market, Wat Champa market and Two-Canals market.

Chakkhaphan spoke after a ceremony held to promote Two-Canals market, which he said had been opened last year. It was initially called Wat Talingchan market but its name caused confusion with the old Talinchan market, so the name was changed.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will promote five floating markets in Bangkok’s Talingchan district as tourist attractions, BMA deputy governor Chakkaphan Phiewngam said Monday.
