Village head in Narathiwat shot, injured

A village head in Narathiwat’s Chanae district was shot and severely injured at noon Saturday, police said.

Police said Mahamad Darohmae, 45, head of Moo 4 village in Tambon Phadungmart in Chanae, was working on his rubber plantation when he was shot three times by a gunman.
He was shot in his right shoulder, on the right side of his body and in his abdomen. Mahamad was rushed to the Chanae district for emergency treatment and then sent to the provincial hospital.
Police said the shooting might be motivated by a personal conflict.
