Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has urged everyone ahead of Mother’s Day on Saturday to express their love to their mums.

He also encouraged adults to do what they can to help young people in their learning, since the country’s future rests in their hands.
At Government House just before Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting, the premier met with National Council on Social Welfare secretary-general Penpak Srithong and several celebrities who were promoting sales of jasmine pins for Mother’s Day.
Prayut took the occasion to say he hoped mothers could count on expressions of love and gratitude from their children – and that youngsters get a boost too.
“Children are innocent,” he said. “Whatever we do must be forward-thinking and give them learning and understanding. The country’s mission is in everyone’s hands, and we should give each other encouragement.”
Jasmine in the form of fresh blossoms, handcrafted garlands or fabric and synthetic blossoms is a popular Mother’s Day gift because it’s regarded as a symbol of purity and gentleness, as well as motherhood.
Celebrities helping the Social Welfare Council promote jasmine pin sales include singers Peerapat “Pee-Saderd” Sawasmool, Surattikarn “Earn” Phakcharoen and singer-actor Phoosilp “Tao” Warinrak.
