Free flu vaccination offered for ‘high risk’ group

People who have a higher risk of catching the flu can get free vaccinations from state hospitals from now until August 31.

Although flu is not uncommon, it can cause death in severe cases. It was reported that at least 205 people have recently died of influenza in Hong Kong.
Dr Sakchai Kanjanawattana, secretary general of Thailand’s National Health Security Office, said yesterday that free flu vaccines were now available at medical facilities for people facing a bigger risk, such as women who are at least four months pregnant, babies aged between six months and two years, people with chronic diseases, and people aged 65 years and older.
“People who weigh over 100 kilos and thalassemia patients can also get free shots,” he said.
