Pol Maj General Jiraphat Phumichit, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, told a press conference on Wednesday that the test construction for the Orange (Eastern) Line of the elevated railway’s fourth contract would start at two spots on Ramkhamhaeng Road. One lane of traffic on each side of the road would be blocked.
The construction would be carried out from Saphan Sung Canal to Soi Ramkhamhaeng 139 for a 300-metre section and from Soi Ramkhamhaeng 193 to 199 for another 300-metre section.
The test construction will start at 10pm, and to minimise the impact, parking will be banned on both sides of the road.
Jiraphat said the test would last about two months before construction officially started.
The Orange Line runs from the Thailand Cultural Centre to Min Buri. Its fourth contract will span Ban Ma area to Suwinthawong over a distance of 8.8 kilometres with seven stations. Construction is scheduled to finish on October 2, 2021.
