National police chief Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda and the governor of Chon Buri, Pakarathorn Thienchai, on Wednesday jointly presided over the official opening of a police-owned resort for members of the public.

The resort, called “The Cop Seminar & Resort”, is a four-storey hotel with 80 rooms on a private 900-metre beach in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district.
The seaside facility on a 106-rai plot used to serve as a resort for injured policemen and was opened in 1957.
Now it is being launched as a resort for the public as a way for the Royal Thai Police to earn income for police welfare.
The north of the beach is covered with pine trees and coconut trees and is located near Bang Lamung Canal while the south is next to a small fishing community.
Chakthip said the hotel was the first phase of the resort project, built with a budget of Bt298.5 million. The second phase of 34 villas, with a budget of Bt215.4, is under development and is expected to be completed late next year.
