Phichit Governor Weerasak Wichitsaengsi vowed on Friday to quadruple the number of CCTV surveillance cameras in his province, to 4,000.

Citing the security cameras’ usefulness in solving several major crimes, Weerasak made the pledge while inspecting a CCTV monitoring room at provincial police headquarters.
The province currently has 958 closed-circuit television cameras installed at key locations.
Weerasak said the provincial administration also wanted to use the CCTV system in times of natural disaster so that assistance can be provided to victims more quickly.
