NLA to consider election-related organic laws after Songkran

The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) is ready to deliberate organic laws related to the election after the new Constitution comes into effect.

NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said on Monday that the assembly is scheduled to consider two draft organic laws concerning to Election Commission and political parties after the Songkran holidays.
The Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) has already reviewed the two bills and they should be submitted to the legislature for deliberation, he said.
Another two draft bills concerning the election of MPs and Senate acquirement are expected to be submitted to the NLA in July.
The new constitution will be promulgated on Thursday, which is Chakri Day. HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn will preside over a ceremony at the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall from 3pm, according to an announcement issued by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in line with a royal command.
Under the new charter, more than 10 organic laws will be enacted, with several containing clauses to help tackle corruption in Thailand, Pornpetch said.
