The Chiang Mai-Siriraj "1,500,000 steps" charity run, to raise funds for the construction of the 84th Anniversary Navamindrabopitr Building, starts on Saturday morning.

Some 1,000 runners, including 20 Siriraj medical students, members of the public as well as Channel 3 drama stars departed the "Doctor Prince Museum" within the McCormick Hospital compound in Chiang Mai's Muang district to participate in the run on the Chiang Mai-Lampang section.
The run would totally cover a 750-kilometre distance across 11 provinces in seven days by the 20 medical students plus 30 back-up runners and others to run in rotation in province sections until they reach Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok on March 17.
The 84th Anniversary Navamindrabopitr Building is the last name granted by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the building would be used to care for underprivileged patients.
