The military entered Bangkok’s Mahakan Fort community on Saturday morning to remove rubble from the previous demolition of homes.

The development came as the community stated it would protect what is left in the community, with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration planning to dismantle 10 more houses on Monday.
The deputy head of the community, Pornthep Buranaburidet, said soldiers entered the community on Saturday morning to remove the rubble.
He said there was no conflict because the soldiers and the residents understood each other.
“We used to work with this group of soldiers and we know each other. However, we are more concerned about the BMA’s plan to dismantle 10 more houses in the community,” Pornthep said.
He said the community was prepared for the operation on Monday as it believed an agreement made with BMA last year, that no more houses would be removed, was still in effect.
