The airport made the announcement on its Facebook page after the runways were partially flooded.
According to a statement from Darun Saengchai, the director general of the Airports Department, the top part of Runway 19 was now underwater, prompting the airport to shut down the runway lights and close the Instrument Landing System.
The department has instructed the airlines to inform passengers and to refund them.
Some airlines have also transferred their passengers by buses to nearby airports, such as the Surat Thani, Hat Yai and Phuket airports, Darun said in a statement released by the department’s PR team.
