Japan Airlines revealed that it has begun offering passengers replicas of the happi jackets worn by members of The Beatles when they disembarked from a JAL aircraft on a landmark visit to Japan in 1966.

The replicas commemorate the 50th anniversary of the legendary British rock band’s visit. When the band visited in 1966, scores of fans were excited when they saw the four members clad in happi jackets and waving after getting off a JAL plane at the Haneda Airport.

The new amenity was to be offered to passengers flying with JAL from London to Haneda from Thursday.

The replica happi jackets to be handed out on the plane are meant for first-class passengers from Thursday until December 31 and will also be offered to business-class passengers on December 24-25.
