Myanmar Journalist Network expresses condolences over murder of Myanmar Eleven’s reporter

The Myanmar Journalist Network (MJN) issued a statement to express condolences to the family of the Eleven Media’s correspondent Soe Moe Tun of Monywa, Sagaing Region, who was killed at around 1am of December 13, 2016.

The statement said highlighting that journalists are the ones who write about the truth, thereby targeted to be revenged and are threatened by those who committed wrongful things throughout the world. There are a total of 1,222 journalists were killed from 1992 to 2016 in the world with reference of Committee to Protect Journalist - CPJ.
According to the MJN statement, Thabeikyinn based journalist Tin Zaw Oo was threatened by illegal logging traders in last two months and he had to move to other town together with the family.
The MJN urged the media houses and journalists to be careful for the security. 
The MJN also urged the authorities to make effective effort for the safety of the public calling for effective investigate for murder against Soe Moe Tun.
