Wealthiest NLA members revealed

CHEN Namchaisiri, the chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), is the richest new member of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), according to financial reports released by the anti-graft agency yesterday.

Chen has total assets of Bt339 million, Bt33 million of which belong to his spouse, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) report stated.
Police Lt-General Charnthep Sesawet, commander of the Provincial Police Region 1, is the second most affluent with combined assets of Bt282 million, Bt113 million of which is held by his wife.
Admiral Luechai Ruddit, the Royal Thai Navy chief-of-staff, came third with total assets of Bt187.6 million, Bt13 million of which belong to his wife. At the bottom of the report, deputy chief-of-staff Admiral Sucheep Whoungmaitree has the least assets with a value of Bt3.9 million, while his wife holds Bt1.7 million. They have combined debts of Bt4.4 million.
Thirty-three new NLA members were appointed in October. The assembly now has a total of 250 members.
Six of the new NLA members have assets worth more than Bt100 million, and 16 others have assets exceeding Bt20 million.
Most of the newly appointed members are from the military and police force.
The report on the assets and liabilities of new NLA members will be available at the NACC office until December 22.
