A REHEARSAL for the August 16 "Bike for Mom" campaign will be held on Sunday morning from 7.30am to noon instead of 3pm to 9pm as previously scheduled, police spokesman Pol Lt-General Prawut Thawornsiri said yesterday.

The event was postponed in order to avoid heavy traffic as holidaymakers will be returning to the capital on that day, he said. The rehearsal, which will be attended by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, will have the same security as on the actual day along the biking route – from Dusit Palace Plaza to Sutthisan Intersection.
Meanwhile, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration chief Sanya Chenimit inspected the “Bike for Mom” first registration session for souvenir pins at the Dusit District Office to ensure orderliness. The registration runs until August 5 and participants can collect their souvenir on August 14-15.
On August 16, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will lead a convoy of cyclists on a 43-kilometre ride in Bangkok in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 83rd birthday, while similar convoys will be held simultaneously in provinces nationwide.
