Nineteen dead in Moscow metro accident: emergencies official

MOSCOW - The number of dead has risen to 19 after a train derailed in a Moscow metro tunnel, an emergency ministry official said Tuesday, raising the previous of 12.

"At the moment, seven bodies have been handed over to the investigators... They are four men and three women. In the first carriage (of the train), six bodies are being extracted and in the second carriage, six bodies," said Alexander Gavrilov, the deputy head of Moscow's branch of the emergency ministry, cited by the RIA Novosti news agency.
