Blaze rages through supermarket in Udon Thani

A blaze ripped through a supermarket in Udon Thani's Muang district early yesterday, resulting in up to Bt100 million in damages.

Police and fire-fighters rushed to the three-storey building located at Phosri-Surakan intersection after receiving reports at about 1am and rescued caretaker Suchat Mahasiriwat, 57, from the second floor. He was slightly injured.
It took about five hours to bring the fire under control.
Owner Siripong Chaisiwamongkol said he had been operating the supermarket for more than two decades. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
