It would be up to Cabinet to lift the decree and replace it with the Internal Security Act (ISA) implemented to maintain peace and order in the areas where the state of emergency ended, said Paradorn, who is also the secretary of the CMPO.
Cabinet meets on Tuesday.
Paradorn said the ISA would cover Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Lat Lum Kaeo, Pathum Thani, and Phli, Samut Prakan.
If the Cabinet approved the lifting of the state of emergency, the ISA would come into effect immediately, he said, adding that there was no need to wait until the state of emergency expired on March 27.
The Civil Court recently prohibited the government from enforcing a number of measures under the state of emergency.
