Apple inspires baby names
New York - Apple products apparently have influenced some parents when it the selection of a name for their offspring.
A new study shows that the names Siri for a girl and Mac for a boy gained in popularity last year. Siri is the name of the computer voice for Apple's voice-activated personal assistant and Mac is the market name of Apple's Macintosh line of personal computers. Some parents also are naming their babies Apple.
The study was conducted by a research centre funded by Johnson & Johnson.
The bestselling book trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey also has influenced baby names, making Anastasia, Ana and Grey more frequent.
The British royal family gave a boost to the names Harry and Pippa, while several US presidential names, including Reagan, Kennedy, Carter, Lincoln and Nixon, also appear on the list.//DPA
