Doctors at the Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital said yesterday that Luang Phor Koon Paritsutho, who was admitted late Tuesday night, would remain in hospital for a week.

Cardiovascular expert Dr Pinitjai Nakphan said the monk suffered from hiccups and phlegm, which might be a result of bronchitis, though Xrays showed nothing abnormal in his lungs, abdomen or heart. The monk is making a steady recovery, though he would not be allowed any visitors, he said. The abbot of Wat Ban Rai developed acute bronchitis on June 6 and was in hospital for two weeks before he was discharged on June 15.
