Red-shirt leaders facing terrorism charges in connection with last year's unrest have become members of House of Representatives committees dealing with security affairs, justice, human rights and police affairs.

Among these leaders is Pheu Thai Party MP Karun Hosakul, who is chairing a House panel tasked with overseeing national security affairs.
Other Pheu Thai MPs and red-shirt leaders given places in House panels are Natthawut Saikua and Pracha Prasopdee, who are part of a committee on legal affairs, justice and human rights; Weng Tojirakarn and Pichit Chuenban, who are part of a panel on national security; Khattiyaa Sawasdiphol, who is part of the military affairs panel; and Vipoothalaeng Pattanapoomthai on police affairs.
The House convened on Wednesday to approve the selection of chairmen for the 35 committees allocated under a quota system for political parties represented in the legislature. Of the 35 seats, 19 have been allocated for the ruling Pheu Thai Party, 11 for the opposition Democrat Party, two for the opposition Bhum Jai Thai Party, and one each to the junior coalition parties Chart Thai Pattana, Ruam Chart Pattana and Palang Chon.
Rak Santi Party leader and sole MP Purachai Piumsombun will lead the House committee on children, youth, women and the elderly.
