A court in Phuket has issued arrest warrants for 34 suspects in connection with the riots in Thalang district.

“Most of the suspects are local teenagers,” Provincial Police Region 8 chief Pol Lt-General Thesa Siriwatho said yesterday.
Earlier this month, hundreds of locals went on a rampage at Thalang Police Station over the death of two young drug suspects, who died in an accident that occurred during a police chase.
The rioters hurled rocks, set fire to cars and blocked roads. Many vehicles and the police station building were damaged.
Police are now investigating the death of the two suspects and the riot.
