Chinese carmaker BYD’s Dolphin, Atto top Sept registration list in Thailand

The Land Transport Department announced that Chinese carmaker BYD Auto was the most popular among car buyers in Thailand based on registration applications submitted in September.

The battery electric vehicles (BEVs) registered for permanent licence plates in September were:

• BYD Dolphin: 1,621 units

• BYD Atto 3: 1,610 units

• Neta V: 854 units

• Ora Good Cat: 650 units

• MG EP: 513 units

• MG 4 Electric: 380 units

• Tesla Model Y: 250 units

• MG Maxus 9: 137 units

• Tesla Model 3: 125 units

• MG ES: 115 units

A survey conducted by the Thai-language daily, Krungthep Thurakij, shows that the most popular EV models costing less than 2 million baht in Thailand are:

• Ora Good Cat starting at 828,000 baht

Ora Good Cat comes in three sub-models – 400 Tech, 400 Pro and 500 Ultra. The 400 Tech and 400 Pro sub-models use a 47.8kWh battery that can travel about 400 kilometres per full charge. The 500 Ultra sub-model uses a 63.139kWh battery and can run about 500km per full charge.

• MG ZS EV starting at 949,000 baht

It comes in two sub-models: MG ZS EV D (949,000 baht) and MG ZS EV X (1.023 million baht). Both models cover about 403km per full charge.

• BYD Atto 3 starting at 1.09 million baht

The Atto 3 comes in two types: Standard Range and Extended Range. The Standard Range uses a 50.1kWh battery that runs about 410km per full charge, while the Extended Range uses a 60.48kWh battery and it can run about 480km per charge.

• Ora Good Cat GT starting at 1.28 million baht

This car uses a 63.139kWh battery that can run about 500km per full charge.

• BYD E6 starting at 1.39 million baht

The E6 model uses a 71.7kWh battery and can run about 500km per full charge.

• Nissan Leaf starting at 1.59 million baht

It uses a 40kWh battery that can run about 311km per charge.

• Toyota bZ4X starting at 1.83 million baht

The car uses a 71.4kWh battery that can run about 411km per charge.

• Tesla Model 3 starting at 1.75 million baht

Model 3 comes in three sub-models: Rear-Wheel Drive 2023 (1.76 million baht), Long Range 2023 (1.99 million baht) and Performance (2.31 million baht). The Rear-Wheel Drive uses a 57.5kWh battery that runs about 430km, while the Long Range Drive and Performance Drive both use a 75kWh battery. The Long Range Drive runs about 560km, while the Performance Drive about 490km.
