Ministries to propose golf club quarantine following demand from foreign players

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, as well as the Ministry of Public Health, will propose to the Centre for Economic Situation Administration (CESA) to allow foreigners to quarantine in golf clubs, with an aim to serve golfers from four Asian countries.

The Minister of Tourism and Sports, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, said that his organisation and the Ministry of Public Health will propose this plan to the CESA on November 11, before proposing this idea again to the Cabinet.
The foreigners will be quarantined in the golf clubs with accommodation standard in line with alternative local state quarantine centres. This idea came up after suggestions from golfers from four Asian countries, namely, China, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
Phiphat explained that this quarantine programme would be different from the others in the country, as the golfers would be allowed to play in the golf courses during the time they are quarantined.
The minister said that five golf clubs have already expressed interest to be the alternative local state quarantine. They are in Nakhon Ratchasima, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Saraburi and Kanchanaburi provinces.
The ministries aim to set around 20 to 30 clubs as the state quarantine. There are 238 golf clubs in Thailand.
