Koh Kret, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Nonthaburi province, is preparing to receive tourists after the government eases some lockdown restrictions.

Nonthaburi Governor Sujin Chaichumsak said on Sunday that he had sent health officials to spray disinfectants in order to sanitise tourist attractions, temples, police stations and hospital in Koh Kret.

Damrong Meemuan, 70, a noodle vendor at Koh Kret, said he is worried about the Covid-19 outbreak but is hopeful tourists will revive the community economy after a month of shutdown.
Koh Kret is an island village in the middle of the Chao Phraya River. People in Bangkok usually make a day trip to the island to shop for pottery and other local hand-made products made by people of Mon descent and tourists also enjoy eating local dishes.
Supatra Ketcharoen, head village of Moo 7 in Koh Kret subdistrict, said some tourists had already visited Koh Kret on Sunday. Tourists are required to wear masks and they must be screened at three checkpoints before they can enter the community. Locals, who largely depend on income from tourist spending, have been hit hard during the month-long lockdown, she added.
