Airports of Thailand (AOT) has approved the result of bidding to construct the third runway at Suvarnabhumi Airport, which was won by a joint venture led by SET-listed construction firm Nawarat Patanakarn Public Company Ltd (NWR).

Anake Teeraviwatchai, AOT senior executive vice president, said that NWR put in the lowest bid of Bt9.713 billion, versus the median price of Bt10.474 billion.
The joint venture then agreed to lower the price to Bt9.6 billion at the request of the price bidding committee, said Anake.
The contract signing is expected to take place in September.
Construction of Suvarnabhumi’s third runway is due for completion in three years. It will boost the airport’s capacity to 94 flights per hour or 90 million passengers per year.
