Senior executive vice president for marketing Mayuree Chaipromprasith credited the rise to government promotion of domestic tourism and spending to stimulate the economy.
“The total number of tourists to Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery increased strongly in the last quarter of the year,” she said.
“During the festive season, more than 250,000 people shop at Siam Paragon per day, compared to the usual 180,000-200,000 people per day, while the number of tourists at Siam Center and Siam Discovery during the holidays tops 100,000 per day, up from the usual 80,000.
“As a result, sales at the three malls are expected to increase 5-10 per cent.”
With the Thai economy expected to grow by 3.9 per cent this year and next year, she said, Siam Piwat is confident of drawing more than 130 million tourists next year, an increase of 10 per cent over 2017.
