Ichitan Group will next year start selling beverage products with reduced sugar content to minimise the impact from new excises that seek to curb sugar consumption.
Tan Passakornnatee, chairman of the board of directors, said that between 30 per cent and 40 per cent of the company's overall beverage products are currently impacted by the new measures launched against beverages with high sugar content. The tax burden is between 6 satang and 10 satang per bottle.
“We plan to increase the proportion of exports in overall sales to 22 per cent next year from 25 per cent currently” said Tan, adding that the group expected to achieve total sales of between Bt6.8 billion and Bt7 billion next year, up from Bt5.8 billion targeted for this year.
He said that such export products were exempt from the excises.
"We plan to launch new beverage products next year as well as export our products into new markets, such as China and Myanmar," said Tan.
Tan said that the company expects to return to profit in the fourth quarter of this year. Ichitan incurred a Bt55 million loss in the fourth quarter of last year.
