"With his record of success and strong leadership, the bank is confident that he will drive policies and important tasks to accomplish the bank’s goal of becoming the bank of choice for our customers, shareholders, employees, and community," said SCB Executive Chairman Vichit Suraphongchai.
In 2014, the bank adopted a two-leaders system. While Arthid was appointed chief executive officer and deputy executive chairman in April 2015, Yol Phokasub was appointed the president.
Yol last month tendered his resignation but would remain as an SCB director and a member of the executive board.
Arthid, 49, has over 20 years of experience in finance and banking. He commenced his career at SCB's Treasury Department in 1994, moving to Cargill Financial Services as a hedge fund manager in 1998. In 2000, he joined Standard Chartered Bank, where he was based in Singapore for his last position as Managing Director and Regional Head of Capital Markets, Southeast Asia. He re-joined SCB in 2008 as senior executive vice president in charge of the Corporate Banking Group.
