Krungsri expects to attract around 50,000 applicants for both debit and credit cards before the end of this year, banking on the popularity of Manchester United Football Club.

It introduced the Manchester United Debit Card with a new imprint to celebrate the football club’s championship won from the latest season, making it 20 championship title wins in total to-date.  Responding to demand from the club’s genuine fans, the launch comes with a special campaign for Manchester United Debit Card holders to fulfill their dream of visiting Old Trafford in England.
“Krungsri is the only bank in Thailand to which the right [to use the Manchester United name] is officially granted.  This puts the bank on par as a Manchester United’s global partner in financial products to commemorate the club’s historic 20 championship wins," said Kris Chantanotoke, executive vice president of Wealth Management Division, Bank of Ayudhya.
“On the occasion of the team’s formal visit to Thailand, Krungsri has introduced a Manchester United Debit Card with a new imprint declaring CHAMPIONS 2013 to accentuate the club’s greatness as well as to make Thai soccer fans and every Red Devils follower happy,” Kris said.
Currently, Krungsri has more than 100,000 Manchester United Debit Cards, on which expenditure amounts are, on average, 10 per cent higher than on the bank’s general debit cards and show an upward growth trend, he added. The number of Manchester United Credit Cards has exceeded 50,000 and is still increasing.
For card holders, benefits include receiving the maximum promotional offering of eight times points collected and special discounts from the Manchester United Megastore, and gaining access to the Champions Restaurant & Sports Bar or the Megastore@Old Trafford general shops located domestically and overseas. Selected Manchester United cardholders will have a chance to elevate their soccer experience by watching a friendly match from the VIP Room at the Muang Thong United Club, meeting and greeting Manchester United players at the club’s practice field in Carrington, and cheering their favorite soccer team in action at Old Trafford in England.
