Phuket's tourism industry has remained vibrant as ever, despite a series of aftershocks in Thalang district and neighbouring provinces, said Tourism Authority of Thailand's regional director.

Based in Phuket, Bangornrat Shinaprayoon said that from TAT's survey, hotels in the area have witnessed extra low cancellation, with a few rooms each.
She said that the agency has closely monitored the situation and assembled information from the private sector.
During April 15-May 15, Phuket hosts a series of conferences for Amway members from China. Groups of 500 each land in the province. According to Bangornrat, totally the conferences bring together 16,000 Thai and Chinese participants.
"It's a good sign for the province's tourism as TAT has not yet been informed of any change in schedules," she said.
