Phuket Square plans city mall

Phuket Square will launch a Bt300-million-plus lifestyle community mall on Sukhumvit Soi 20 in the first quarter of next year after the success of its first mall, Jungceylon in Phuket.

"Mille Malle will cater to local residents and expatriates staying within 5 kilometres of the shopping |centre, which is surrounded by more than 30 commercial complexes - five-star hotels, luxury condominiums |and office buildings," chief executive officer Pravit Janyasithikul said |yesterday.

Jungceylon opened in 2006.

The company's second mall project will occupy more than 1 rai (1,600 square metres) in front of Millennium Residence@Sukhumvit, a high-|end condominium with 604 units priced from Bt10 million to Bt121 |million.

Construction of the retail centre is already 70 per cent complete.

It will contain more than 6,758sqm of space on four floors, of which 3,100sqm will be offered for rent.

About 25 major tenants are expected. Confirmations include MaxValu Tanjai Mini Supermarket, Eye Lab optical shop, Hair World salon and international restaurants such as Zen Cucina and Yamagoya.

"Almost 60 per cent of the key target shoppers of Mille Malle are Thais and expatriates living on Sukhumvit Road, while 15 per cent are working people and business owners and 25 per cent foreign travellers staying at hotels in the area," he said.
