Srettha to hold talks with New Zealand PM during official visit to Thailand
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin is preparing to hold talks with Christopher Luxon, the prime minister of New Zealand, during his official visit to Thailand from April 16 to 18.
Srettha will officially welcome Luxon and his delegation on Wednesday, April 17, at Government House.
He is scheduled to hold talks with Luxon to strengthen cooperation between Thailand and New Zealand in all aspects, as well as to engage in discussions with New Zealand's private sector.
Subsequently, the two leaders will act as witnesses to the signing of agreements between relevant agencies of Thailand and New Zealand, followed by a joint press conference.
Afterwards, Srettha will host a luncheon in Luxon’s honour.
Chai Wacharonke, the spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, said this visit reflects the close relationship between Thailand and New Zealand and presents an opportunity to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
He said it is also an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all aspects, especially in trade and security, economy, clean energy, innovation, education, and culture, as well as promoting cooperation at the grassroots level.
This visit marks the first official visit of a prime minister of New Zealand to Thailand in 11 years.
Besides Luxon himself, the New Zealand delegation includes Simon Watts, minister for climate change; Paolo Garcia, member of Parliament; officials from relevant government agencies; and a group of New Zealand business representatives.
